THE BODY BUILDING BENEFITS OF DRINKING WATER

One of the benefits of drinking water is its role as a building block for the body. We tend to take it for granted just like a fish takes water for granted, because it's so much a part of life. But just for a moment, let me spell out for you how foundational water is to your body. Did you realize that your body is 60% to 75% water! You can see why good drinking water is so important to good health.

Health Benefits of Water

I want to simply show you how foundational water is to our very existence as "bodies". Elsewhere I tackle the question of how much water we actually need, a highly debated question. Then, more specifically, what we mean by "hydration" and "dehydration". I also spell out the importance of water for the different systems of the body, such as the body's defense system or circulatory system. All of these are different health dimensions of drinking water.

Water As A Building Block of the Body

So here goes for some interesting facts about your body.

Did you know that...?

  • Your blood is about 85% water.

  • Your muscles are 75% water.

  • Your brain is 75 % water.

  • Your lungs, liver, and kidneys are each 85% water.

  • Your skin is 60% water.

  • Even your bones are 22 % water!

Not only does water account for two thirds of the composition of the body, but it plays a critical role in the functioning of the body. This goes to the very heart of the health benefits of drinking water.
